With the WGA striking, the AFTRA contracts, SAG's battle with the AMPTP, it feels like were back in Alphabet Soup of FDR's depression 30's. Us Hollywoodites love throwing around the bevy of Guild acronyms... but how many of us really know what they stand for?

    • AFTRA -- American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. National labor union representing performers, journalists and other artists working in entertainment and news. "SAG's elected leadership looks to be holding out hope for a merger with AFTRA."
    • AMPAS -- Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
    • AMPTP – Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers
    • ASC -- American Society of Cinematographers.
